Healing ART? (Research)

 For centuries art has been a source of comfort, expression, and release. Colors, shapes, and patterns highly contribute to our overall mood and shape a lot of our experiences. So today I decided I would take a look at how art has been used to heal. According to the American Art Therapy Association (AATA),"art therapy engages the mind, body, and spirit in ways that are distinct from verbal articulation alone. Kinesthetic, sensory, perceptual, and symbolic opportunities invite alternative modes of receptive and expressive communication, which can circumvent the limitations of language. Visual and symbolic expression gives voice to experience, and empowers individual, communal, and societal transformation."

PROGRESS!!

  My first piece! 😄    REFLECTION: I am super excited! I was stuck in my head trying to figure out what to do. I have been in such a space of not creating anything for so long that trying to get back in my creative space has been hard. I don't know if it has been due to lack of inspiration or just genuinely being tired that has been the hold up but lets hope I can keep up the momentum!

    We nailed down a rough draft idea for our poster design for our DC GIVES BACK  events. We have two events for this campaign-Auction house, and parade. I am responsible for making revisions to our designs and visuals. Today was also a in  house strategy day we reached out to business for sponsorships, inquired about doing their ads, and looked into potential venues to house our events.
